Steam&Go Handheld Garment Steamer

Differences between a hand held garment clothes steamer and an iron

1

How do the results differ to that of an iron/steam iron?

Handheld steamers are the ideal solution for getting the job done quickly without an ironing board, for touch ups and for de-wrinkling delicate and difficult to iron fabrics, such as pleated or silk.

Is it safe to touch the garments with my steamer?

You should hold the plate of your garment steamer against your clothes. If you’re worried this will result in burnt clothes, it’s good for you to know that the steam plates on Philips steamers are safe for clothing.

Is my Philips garment steamer safe on all garments?

Yes, your Philips garment steamer can be safely used with any setting on any garment. It will not burn them.

What type of water can I use in my Philips steam iron or steamer?

Your Philips garment steamer has been designed to be used with tap water. If you live in an area with hard water, fast scale build-up may occur. To prolong the lifespan of your steamer it is recommended to use distilled or demineralised water.

Should my Philips garment steamer’s tank be emptied after use?

We recommend that you empty your garment steamer’s water tank after using it. This will help prevent the formation of calcification and algae.

Do not buyAppaling performance- after a few uses won’t even remove creases from a very thin silky top (picture was takes after using 2 tanks on a top)

Do not waste your money. I didWorst product i have used. Fill it with water and steam one item. Its bulky and not easy to travel with. Reservoir is ridiculously small for size of devive. Aviod

I hardly use the iron anymoreAfter purchasing this, i think i use the iron about 90% less then i use to. I wear a lot of clothes that do not require perfect lines from ironing, i.e. smart suit shirts. For when i do, i have to use an iron, all other times to get rid of creases and not look like it has just come out of the washing machine, i use this! Just wish i bought this years earlier. The only downside to this is that the water does run out after 2 items but it takes about 1 min to refill and start again.

So dissapointed ! Terrible product !Expected so much more for a Philips premium product with that price tag. It is more or less unusable as almost no power in the steam that comes out compare to my old no brand one that cost a £15!!! Unless this one is faulty but then again Philips customer service adamants that it is working as it should be when sent a video to them. I would avoid and save money by getting a different brand.

Used item!It has already been used clearly! You can see sign of being a second hand product from the packaging and the product!

Just does not do what it says on the tin.I bought this product to use on linen and cotton jackets, it was hopeless, in fact on a cotton jacket it seemed to leave more creases than it removed and it has to be refilled after every garment, so I returned it. NOT a good buy

Great idea, looks the part and almost deliversI bought this on a whim, seduced by an ad with a video from Phillips on Facebook. I hate ironing with a passion, but also can’t stand creased clothes and bedlinen, so thought this might solve all my problems. After I ordered it, I worried whether I had done the right thing and was in two minds whether to keep it or not. I got it on promotion for about half price, and think I paid a fair price for it but imho it’s not worth more. The steamer itself is attractive and distinctive in its black and gold, albeit slightly heavy to handle, and not that light to toss into your bag when you go away. You fill a water reservoir that slides on to the handle, which is easy to do, but you have to refill frequently if you are doing more than one garment. Also, the cap on the reservoir does not seem to seal as well as when I first got it, which is slightly worrying when you are handling water and electricity… :(I have used it several times on clothes with pretty good results, although sometimes it can be awkward to hold the steamer and pull the garment to straighten it. I have, however, had great results on curtains that are hanging on their track. I did need to refill the water a lot but it was worth it for the result.I had never seen anything like this before I bought it but have since seen slightly smaller, lighter garment steamer at a much lower price in one of those supermarkets where you go in for potatoes and come out with a chainsaw from the middle aisle. I wonder whether one of those would have been just as effective at less than a third of the price, although they aren’t as good-looking.I do think this is a good solution to banishing creases, but think perhaps it’s early days with the design and price and later models will be an improvement on this. I welcome the innovation of a steamer like this but I would give 3.5 stars as it is almost there but not quite.

AwesomeI hate ironing its the last on my list of ”to do” jobs This has changed my life! I work closely to a sink and a socket and the water chamber does need refilling but it reduces my ironing load very quickly. I use it on knitwear & jersey. Very Happy

What were good housekeeping thinking?Honestly — this is utter garbage. I’ve given it 2 rather than 1 because the building quality is really good. Its huge.… you wouldn’t travel with it. You can’t use it to iron unless you have a board to go with it… and even then its awful.I’ve found it brilliant for cleaning my suede trainers using the brush attachment.…. that’s it.I was expecting to use this to take the creases out of my bed linen and flick down shirts/trousers and even suits.…. Epic fail.

Normal to have water in tankAfter reading so many negative reviews, I had concerns about this product, however, I decided to trust the brand. When it arrives, the packaging and everything means it is a new item. But it has one drop of water in the water tank, I was afraid this might be a used product as other reviews mentioned. Then I noticed a sticker says it has been tested with water in the factory.Other than this, everything else indicates this is indeed a brand new product. It is quite handy and does the job. The only drawback is that the water tank is small and it only steams 2 shirts per tank; or 1 shirt if you steam very throughly. This is indeed a very good and useful product and I believe it deserves a 5 star rating.
