Amazing product — Student ReviewI love this product so much!!! After breaking my Macbook Pro and having it for over 7 years, I needed to purchase a cheaper alternative which would be substantial for my final year of University. I bought this computer after reading and watching endless reviews online and can honestly say it has exceeded my expectations. Despite it being aesthetically pleasing, the large screen is great for having multiple tabs open and finger print access is an added bonus I didn’t realise I needed. As an Apple lover (so I thought), I am super impressed with this product and would recommend it to anyone. My favourite features are the touchscreen, fingerprint access and the large screen view. From having this, I don’t think I will ever go back to an MacBook. I am hooked!

Only Microsoft could sell a laptop that won’t run its own softwareWindows is not pre-activated, so you need a product key before you can do anything. Not on the laptop, not on the box, not anywhere. Amazon tech support were great but since I couldn’t open e‑mail, nor get out of the absurdly restrctive S mode (you can’t even access command prompt) unless I had the product key and activated Windows, nothing worked. I was put through to Microsoft. I was on the phone for almost an hour, mostly waiting, otherwise being passed from one level of tech support to another. None of them had a clue what to do. Having explained the situation in detail and been through all the usual rigmaroles four times, I was cut off. I have returned the item, but what a terrible waste of time.

Not usable at all while charging.I have been using the surface Laptop go since a week now. The laptop is thin, leight weight and strong. It works completely fine but as soon as I plug it for charging, the fan on the system literally runs at Max and the laptop heats up quickly within a matter of seconds. If you are trying to work in peace, this is not for you as it make a very heavy noise that almost takes your mind off the actual task in hand.I am currently working from home and it’s almost impossible to have it charged all the time. I did not find that helpful at all.I tried reaching to the support team, as always I was just told that the fan turns on and runs at it’s max to get rid of the heat. The touch screen is good and multi tasking is pretty decent. But this loud noise while charging is too much to be overlooked and I don’t think that it’s the ideal piece of technology for the amount of money being charged for it. However, it might be an hardware issue with just my system, as I did extensive research and found out that it’s not normal unless you have a dozen tabs open and running apps which take up a lot of your GPU.I am experiencing this loud noise since it was brand new without a singe application running on it. Can’t really confirm if it’s just my surface or all of them, as I spoke to a support agent and was told off that as long as your performance doesn’t dip it doesn’t really matter. But the fact is you simply can’t over look as the fan on the system makes more noise than a small 1KW fan heater.

Update — horribleI bought this for work thinking it would be easier to run MS Programs on Windows than a Mac.I’ve always used Mac since my childhood and I thought hey let’s buy a Windows for once. At first, great. Packaging was nice, felt premium in the hands and first month was great with some exceptions. But oh boy.The build quality of these could never be compared to a Mac. Where do I begin.1. The display is somewhat unresponsive. Sometimes you’d lift the lid and have to wait for it to decide whether it wants to turn on or off. Sometimes it would shut off if the device has been off.2. Sometimes when you boot it up, it would load quick (windows logo) but then you’d have to sit at a black screen for like 1–2 minutes before the login page appears.3. Sometimes the touch ID button doesn’t light up, so you have to restart.4. Major issue — if you keep the device plugged in for a long time the screen would start having white borders around which apparently is a heating issue. Like.… It’s 2021, sort it out. Contacted Microsoft and they said considering the issue comes and goes it would be hard for them to determine the cause so it is most likely a standard problem that doesn’t cause much user trouble… You what?5. It gets so hot whilst charging… unbelievable.6. The sound is terrible and tinny.7. The charger… omg. Who designed this? It is literally the most annoying thing I have ever used in my entire life. Yes it’s magnetic but getting this thing in and out is just so annoying. The slightest move and it would pull itself out. The magnet is not really functional, it’s just there, not strong at all.8. If you’re in an ultra quiet room you’ll notice a buzzing sound near the screen. Microsoft said that’s just normal and most Surface devices have that sound, it comes from the electricals. At first glance I thought wow it’s so cute and little and it looked premium at the store. But give it a few weeks and you’ll start to hate it if you’re serious about office work.If I were you, just buy an M1 chip Macbook and run Windows in a virtual environment or Install Windows ARM on it if you do need Windows.I wouldn’t bother with this piece of plastic. Seems like Microsoft have done a crappy job at something that’s meant to be of use but instead is just marketed to get your money and serve its purpose. Never again.

Useless keyboardMega uncomfortable keyboard. Returned the item.Purchased Surface Pro with soft typepad keyboard instead — much better choice

I get through laptops around 1 per year and this is the best i have had for a long timeFor me my laptop is my life and my only source of income so i need a machine i can trust. i get through laptops around 1 per year and this is the best i have had for a long time. The build quality feels first class. Very happy and would recommend

  7. Tara Spear

Exceeded my expecrationsAt first it was a little Strange as I was up grading from a Samsung Tablet but I’ve got used to it and love it now I have brought a wireless mouse as I use it a lot for working with Spreadsheet, I’ve also used it for watching catch up TV and online films picture quality is brilliant I have had no concerns with battery life

  8. Liz Owers

Good LaptopIs this expensive for what it is, maybe but Laptops seem to be pricey these days, especially if you want the touchscreen, which I really insisted on.Its very quick and quiet and the fan noise isn’t too much and I hardly hear it.Con:*I didn’t realise it wasn’t wide screen, and that’s taken the most getting use to. It really upset me for a few days, but i’m use to it now.*The screen has a noticeable grey line when you drag your finger down it. Eventually you stop seeing it, but it is there.*The battery isnt 13hours.Pro:*Its fast*Keyboard is nice*Nicely made*Touchscreen is responsive.*Fast start up.I am glad I bought this, but it seems a lot of money — seems like thats just the norm.

  9. Adrian wright

    GreatVery fast laptop

  10. Mr R Bainbridge

Happy PurchaseBarely use a PC now but still need one from time to time and wanted to get one that felt expensive and of high quality so I enjoy my time using it.Very compact, light, no problems with touch screen, keyboard or trackpad.I went with the i5 256GB storage option as I feel it had the best spec to price ratio out of the options. The Blue looks very nice.Only minor negative was the keyboard isn’t backlit, I knew this when buying but didn’t realise how useful it is when using the laptop in the evening without a main light on.
