‘allo Flour.Having tried Heygates Malt Crunch Malted Bread Flour, thought I’d give this one a try. Unlike the previous flour you need to add salt, it also uses slightly less yeast.I use a Von Chef bread maker, so decided to ‘run’ this flour on the same settings as for the previous flour type. The results have ben really good, the bread has a nice crunchiness to the crust and is not tough to get through, the flavour is nice although not as “malty” as “Heygates Malt Crunch Malted Bread Flour”.My only gripe, as with the previous review of Heygates Malt Crunch Malted Bread Flour 16kg, is there are no smaller sizes. 16kg is fine if you have a family and go through bread very quickly but, for us singletons it is a pain. At the rate of roughly a loaf per week, 16kg will last me 9months, 2/3months beyond the use by date. Having said that though the quality and taste didn’t decrease, it remained the same.

Wonderful crunch and tasteThis is superb quality flour, which I use to make delicious loaves and buns. Personally, I combine this with olive oil and sea salt. The dough rises beautifully and produces a wonderful malty loaf or buns, which are quickly devoured by the whole family. The flour is aptly named, because you get a great crunch when you bite into your bread fresh from the oven. This flour produces proper tasty bread and is a regular purchase for me. Just love it!

Great bread flour — one of the best I have usedThis is an excellent flour for making malted grain bread both by hand and in a breadmaker. It is some of the best that I have found — and I have tried an awful lot of flours over the almost fifty years that I have been making my own bread. My loaves have risen perfectly. The crust is crisp without being hard and tough. The flavour is simply wonderful. Even my very fussy hubby approves of bread made with this, with the usual touch of white bread flour from the same suppliers. Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent flour at a good priceI have used Hovis Granary flour in the past, which is expensive on-line and can be difficult to find in shops so tried this as an alternative. It produces bread which is a little lighter and with a better crumb than Granary using the same recipe and has an excellent taste and texture.I — by which I mean mainly my wife — use Heygates plain flour and there does seem to be a difference between supermarket domestic flour and the flour sold to professionals which always produces good and consistent results. This is an excellent flour, easy to work and which bakes well producing bread which is light and tasty ant a good price and you can’t ask for more than that.

Simply the bestThank you so much. I have been baking bread for over 40 years and can honestly say that this is the best bread flour I have ever used. I have no interests at all invested in this review but I feel that I need to tell you I’ve used Hovis for many years and this flour is far far superior. I hope it is available for a long time to come. Thank you.UPDATE: Purchased twice now and equally as happy with my 2nd Bag. I calculate I can make 1lb cobs for about 70p each. Great value and highly recommended

Very flavoursomeI’m new to bread making, this is the second brand of granary flour that I’ve tried. Not really understanding the difference in the beginning I bought ‘with salt’ and the second time ‘no salt’. I’m yet to decide which is more convenient/better according to need. I do however add three tablespoons of mixed seeds to the mix which I think enhances the flavour. Definitely recommend Norfolk Crunch.

Perfect!I worried I wouldn’t like it but took a gamble (the ‘crunch’ worried me). I couldn’t be more happy with the bread I make with this — I use the bog-standard granary loaf recipe in my machine and every loaf turns out perfectly. The texture is stunning! The crunchy bits are tiny and easily crunched and I absolutely adore it fresh or toasted — and so do family and friends — it has been commented on.The recipe is so simple and the only issue I ever had was when my electronic scales broke!

Just fabulousThis makes some of the best bread I have ever tasted ! The flour is a perfect balance and produces a loaf with a nice crunch and plenty of flavour. My new favourite bread flour, far superior to anything you can buy in a supermarket, and buying in bulk makes it no more expensive than inferior flour !

The Holy Grail of Flour. Your Search is Over!Makes the best loaf ever! Looks yummy in the photo doesn’t it?Well it has a gorgeous taste, nutty, fluffy, soft, springy, a mix of grains throughout, great texture, delish crust too. Sublime!Easily as tasty as the best home baked artisan granary bread you’ve EVER eaten anywhere! Yep, that sums it up, it really is that good!I’ll only be using this flour from now on; years of trying different flours, different mixes of flours in recipes, seeds etc, is over. 100% Norfolk Crunch flour makes this beauty!

Lovely flour. Not plastic free packaging as stated.I am pleased my flour arrived safely I am just baking my first loaf. Looks like yummy flour. This is my first try out with hetgates flour am excited to taste my first slice of breadWhen it says come in plastic free packaging — yes the flour itself is in a paper bag etc. But however that bag is in a thick plastic bag, with a plastic grip tie. So it’s not actually plastic free packaging is it? Other bags from other suppliers arrived safely without a plastic bag.
