    Great for sour­doughArrived yes­ter­day, sour­dough loaf imme­di­ate­ly start­ed, baked today, very impressed, great rise, crust and flavour.     Absolute­ly ban­gin’ bread flourI’ve just shift­ed from Hey­gates strong Green flour to this bad boy for home baked sour­dough, and this flour is in a dif­fer­ent league. Every­one has noticed a dif­fer­ence in flavour and crumb con­sis­ten­cy, and also (the crit­i­cal one) flavour. As the bak­er in the equa­tion, I’ve noticed I can get a big­ger oven spring with less hydra­tion, which makes for a far more con­sis­tent­ly tight but light crumb. The pic­ture shows a sour­dough inclu­sion loaf with olives, Parme­san, gar­lic and herbs. It was the great­est loaf I’ve ever baked. The flour made the difference.

    Bril­liant for mad-bak­ers to use in bread­mak­ers.First thing to say it that I do ALL my bak­ing using a bread­mak­er. So this review is based on that use. That said how­ev­er, I have use a very large num­ber of brands and this is the best Strong White flour I have found so far.I love to exper­i­ment with mak­ing dif­fer­ent breads but so as not to miss out on a “hit” recipe I note down how each is made. What I have found with this flour is con­sis­ten­tan­cy. I can use the same recipe and process again and again and again and the loaf will come out as before. This is not some­thing I have found from oth­er brands. Also, I can be fair­ly con­fi­dent that I know how it will per­form if I try some­thing wierd and leftb field. That is also some­thing that I havn’t man­aged to get from oth­er flours.As for the pack­ag­ing etc, it arrived in a thick paper flour sack which was itself inside a very thick plas­tic sack. What this means is that the flour can be kept safe and clean by sim­ply clip­ping the top of the plas­tic sack after use.I will cer­tain­ly be buy­ing more as being a mad-bread-exper­i­menter I need the reli­a­bil­i­ty and con­sis­tan­cy that this flour provides.

    Can­not fault this prod­uctI bought this dur­ing lock­down here in the UK. Yes it is a bit bulky for stor­age if you have got a small kitchen but it is well worth it. Have used this now for a few weeks and the loaves pro­duced from our bread mak­er are superb. Excel­lent flavour and tex­ture to the bread. As soon as space per­mits will be order­ing more. Quick and easy deliv­ery as well!

    Great prod­uct great resultsThis is my sec­ond sack of bread flour from Hey­gates. Had the strong bread flour in the green sack pre­vi­ous­ly and was extreme­ly pleased with the results. Decid­ed to go with the Cana­di­an in the red sack this time. More great results with the very var­i­ous breads and sour­doughs I make. High­ly recommend.

    Makes great sour­doughI have pur­chased two sacks of this seri­ous­ly good flour.Fantastic for sour­dough and yeast­ed breads.This time the 16k paper bag of flour came sealed in a thick plas­tic sack, thank you, Heygates.I have been able to tie it up in the plas­tic sack as opposed to trans­fer­ring it to a large plas­tic box.Delighted.

    Good flour, which is why I re-ordered — but I received some­thing else.This is excel­lent flour, and it’s very pleas­ant to have it car­ried to the dI ordered a sack of Hey­gates strong white flour and a sack of Hey­gates strong whole­meal flour. I received two sacks of whole­meal flour and no white. I am not in a posi­tion to return the sec­ond sack of whole­meal, as I have opened it to put it into the bin — my hus­band car­ried it in for me, and hap­pened to set it down with the label against the wall. This isn’t a big deal — flour keeps indef­i­nite­ly — but I thought you should know. I haven’t been able to find “This isn’t what I ordered” among the options on the prob­lem page.

    Very pleased with this flourFlour arrived inside a heavy duty plas­tic bag. The paper bag had split, but there was min­i­mal spillage due to it being inside the tight fit­ting out­er bag. Have made Piz­za dough and a loaf of bread.… both were excel­lent. Very pleased with the flour.

    Super flour!First time pur­chase of this pre­mi­um flour but I have used Hey­gates bread flour pre­vi­ous­ly. I am extreme­ly pleased with the results with both flours but I have to say, I think the Cana­di­an and Springs just has the edge. I high­ly rec­om­mend that you give it a try.

    Qual­i­ty FlourA flavour­some white flour with excel­lent ris­ing qual­i­ties which lends itself to blend­ing with oth­er more char­ac­ter­ful flours (spelt, rye, whole­meal etc.) with­out sac­ri­fic­ing good tex­ture). Using a Pana­son­ic bread­mak­er, I pre­fer using the French Bread setting.
