Product Description

NKD Living Granulated Erythritol

NKD Living Granulated Erythritol is a natural zero calorie sugar replacement with a similar texture to caster sugar. It can be used to sweeten just about anything! Sprinkle over fruit and even bake with it just like sugar!

As part of the “sugar alcohol” family, Erythritol is a naturally derived sugar from fruit and plants and passes straight through your body undigested. Therefore, erythritol does not affect blood glucose levels and has zero net carbohydrates! This makes it the perfect sugar alternative for diabetics, low carb, ketogenic dieters and anyone reducing calories and their sugar intake.

Erythritol is 70% the sweetness of sugar so you need to use 130g of erythritol for every 100g of sugar in baking. However, we recommend using recipes that have been developed using erythritol so a perfect outcome can be achieved every time.

Manufactured in France. Packed in the United Kingdom.

Great product but with a few issues — do not use with coffeeFirstly, I am one of those people who hates the artificial taste of saccharine and some other artificial/low cal sweeteners including stevia and aspartame. This product tastes great and is almost indistinguishable from sugar in most uses but not all. So a 5*****product except for the following points;1. If you use this to sweeten coffee, whether instant or freshly ground it will imo destroy the coffee flavour making it taste bitter and chemically, furthermore it also made me feel queasy for a couple of hours. I tried this combo several times, all gave an unpleasant experience. This problem does not occur with tea, whether black, green or herbal.2. Occasionally, when used on fruit or cereals etc it can create a slight “cooling” effect, similar to sorbitol. I have been unable to identify any common pattern or ingredient, nor does it happen consistently. The effect is very slight but is noticeable although not necessarily unpleasant.3. The product claims to give approx 80% sweetness of sugar, Imo it is closer to 50%.Overall, I am delighted with Erythritol but would never use it with any coffee product, imo some strange chemistry comes into play.

Is it the best zero calorie sugar alternative?I have used this for a while now, and I can say that it’s the best zero calorie alternative to sugar, with no obvious side affects at my usage levels. There is a but however, it’s expensive at first. I say at first because you will need to double the amount you would normally use with sugar. The product information states that it has 70% the sweetness of sugar, but I would say that its more likely about 50% and this stuff is about 800% more expensive, so I’ll let you do the math on that. After a time you will be able to reduce the amount just like you would when weening yourself off sugar. It has a very slight caramel smell and taste to it, but you soon get used to it.The other alternative I use is xylitol based sweetener, it does have calories though but very low, but used sensibly use can still have all the benefits, it has sweeter taste than this, probably about 75% that of sugar. I have used both for some time and the benefits in using them as a sugar substitute is enormous. Try them, if you get on with them you won’t turn back, once settled in start to gradually reduce the intake of these to as low as possible.

East to use in bakingI use this instead of sugar in lots of recipes. It is not quite as sweet and I think that it’s suggested on pack to increase the amount of sweetener to sugar in recipes but I don’t bother with this I just use same amount of sweetener as weight of sugar in recipes and it’s fine. I have found with baking that cut can tend to be a little drier than sugar so it’s worth looking at reducing the cooking time slightly or checking at intervals to make sure it’s not over done or too dried out.

  4. CAZZA7

Sugar without all the bad stuffI use this all the time. We don’t have sugar in house anymore. It has no aftertaste nor does it alter the taste of food as some sugar substitutes do. If you tried different sweepers you will know what I want but this is great as it’s just sweet. No one has ever said this isn’t sugar when they have tea or coffee drink. Think that about says it all. Will never go back to sugar again.

  5. GMOH

Good for low carb no sugar diet.Better than stevia, no unpleasant taste.Macronutrients great for my preferred diet. All I’ve read suggests this is a safe alternative to sugar. Like fact it’s granules not liquid.

  6. Amanda

RecommendBizarre stuff, satisfies the need for sugar in my coffees so I will definitely recommend but leaves a kind of tang after taste. But tbh this could be just me as I’m having to go through a dietary change and I’m not happy about it.

  7. Norma Partington

More costly than normal granulated sugar but ticks all the other boxes. This product is like using normal granulated sugar. Same taste and usage is exactly the same as normal sugar so it is a win win for me. Even in baking. Even my grandchildren don’t realise it is in the cakes.

  8. Zosim

Just like caster sugar, but sugar free. Great for baking.More expensive than granulated or caster sugar, but if your lifestyle does not allow you to have sugar, or you want to avoid it, it does the trick. Great for baking sugar free cakes.

  9. Amazon Customer

It’s not sugarThe fact is it a good sugar substitute

  10. frances phillips

Great productMade some muffins with this product and also used it as a sweetener in my coffee. Did not spike up my blood sugars at all.
